The Parador's location, within the Alhambra complex allowed us to make the most of our short break as we could easily access the various parts of the Alhambra as soon as they opened. We bought our Alhambra visitor tickets from the official site (search for "Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife"), well in advance so that we could plan our day around our timed slot in the Nasrid Palace complex. It was also very atmospheric at night; no other tourists or distractions, just us, the odd security guard and the various buildings & palaces. It was also relatively easy to walk to other interesting areas; The Albaicin (gypsy quarter), Sacromonte (Cave dwellings & museum), both needing good legs due to the hills involved, and the old city and its cathedral & interesting shops, bars & restaurants (an easy walk down, a steep uphill slog to get back). We took some evening meals in the Parador's main restaurant and in the bar area. Both were perfectly good and reasonably good value, considering the location. All the staff from front of house to the restaurant to the cleaners were friendly and professional. We travelled in December and the amount of daylight, the day/night temperatures and the relative lack of tourists was a real bonus. I have also been to Granada/Alhambra in the summer and I wouldn't do that again!

With the hotel virtually being attached to the Alhambra Palace, the location was excellent if that was where you wanted to spend your time. You could walk down to the town centro in 10-15 mins via the walkway adjacent to the Puerta de la Justica, but as it would be all uphill, it is best to get a taxi back for approx 5-6 Euros. The hotel was very well kept and had lots of character, and at night it was very quiet and dark, allowing a great night's sleep. The ensuite bathroom was large and very well appointed The continental breakfast was also very good with plenty of choice. We didn't use the restaurant in the evenings, so we can not really comment, but based on the breakfast, we would expect the food to be very good.

The location is phenomenal for the Alhambra, and the property is nice. The woman who checked us in was exceptional in helping us get the best room, giving us a map, and giving us tips on how to get around the area to find things we needed and be on time. The man who checked us out was helpful as well. When we asked reception staff the day before checkout to book a taxi for our departure date, he told us we’d have to pay over double for a town car since we spoke English. This comment was so bizarre, we had already arrived by taxi and taken several taxis to or from hotel each day of our stay. We made our own taxi arrangements for our departure.

Liked the location although I note that there was at least 1 other hotel within the vicinity of the Alhambra, so the Parador isn't the only one BUT the views from the Parador (from the bedrooms & from the outdoor terrace) are fantastic. Good size bedrooms, satisfactory amenities, nice bathroom with bidet directly opposite the toilet (I usually note them aligned side by side in other places), lovely building & outside garden, a tranquil place to enjoy the sights. A one night splurge to be close to the Alhambra was good.

We didn’t have breakfast there as we had an early start on the first morning and first sitting offered was 8am, a little late for our needs. The venue location itself was amazing, such a privilege to stay in the grounds, worth every Euro. The terrace where we had drinks had an outstanding view across the valley and hillsides beyond. We absolutely loved our stay and the room and other spaces were very tastefully decorated. Just beautiful.
